About the Chamber
The Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce has been actively involved in the community since the early 1950's for the purpose of enhancing the community and promoting the development of existing and new businesses. The business district has had many changes since then with the most recent being replacing of the street lights, adding brick work to the sidewalks, and replacing Christmas decorations, all of which the Chamber has been involved with. The Chamber was instrumental in starting the Beef and Dairy Days celebration which it now co-sponsors with the Whitehall Lions, the American Legion and the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department.
The Chamber placed signs and flower beds at the entrance of the city to welcome travelers. They have also sponsored the May city-wide garage sale, the Friday night Farmers' Market, flowers in the downtown planters, benches located on Main Street, the Festival of the Trees promotion and a Chamber of Commerce Technical College Scholarship.
Chamber members are listed in the new Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce brochure and here on our web site. Whitehall Dollars may be purchased from the Chamber Treasurer. Members are then able to accept them from these customers for goods and/or services.
The Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce general meetings are usually held the second Monday of each month. Please check our Calendar of Events page for location and time.
By becoming a member of the Chamber, you help your business or organization become stronger. This, in turn, makes our own community a better place to live and work!

Historic Train Depot
Railroad development in central Trempealeau County began in 1866 with the charger for the Green Bay and Lake Pepin Railroad Company. Laying of track began the fall of 1871 in Green Bay and small settlements along the proposed route completed vigorously for the right of way. Construction continued for the next two years and by September of 1873 tracks were laid through the wheat field that was to become Whitehall. The first regular passenger service between Green Bay and Whitehall began on January 1, 1874.The current 1914 depot replaced an earlier wood frame depot built in 1877. The new brick depot, constructed by the Green Bay and Western Railroad, included design elements typical of train depots in the early 20th century, including a central counter, men's and women's waiting rooms and a sheltering overhang.
The depot was certified and placed on the State and National Register of Historic Places April 19, 2006. Recognition was due in part to its significance in the history of Whitehall, Trempealeau County and the Green Bay and Western Railroad and because it is a well preserved example of an early 20th century brick railroad depot.
The depot renovation has been completed. If you would like more information regarding this depot, please contact the City of Whitehall.
